GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT                                                                                                                                                                         Carl Brochard

I want to thank all that came out to help out with the Po-Boy sale and cooking on ash Wednesday, it was a success, all we had left was 6 Po-Boys at the end of the day.

We will have a Fish Fry on Good Friday and we will need help cooking and serving.  Also, if we could get some potato salad made, we will need about 25 or 30 lbs. made, and if you can make some, please let us know.

We are not far from nominating new Officers for the Council 2018-2019.  I am asking for some of you to step up and help out.  I am getting old and am unable to keep up the job as Grand Knight, which I have been about 8 times at 2 to 4 years each term.

We still have some members that have not paid their dues.  Please send it in as soon as possible.  If you can’t afford the dues, let me know so we can work out something.

It looks like we will be able to give the Bishop about $2000 + from the 10 week drawing.  We are selling tickets for a $3000.  Draw Down for $50, allows 2 people in.  Gumbo, beer, wine, cold drinks, to be held April 21st to help St. Vincent D’Paul.  They have been hit a lot this year with people asking for help with their rent, lights, water, and Christmas Gift Cards.

Please try and see me 228-327-0066 or Barney Banks, 228-424-9094 for a ticket.  This is a very worth while project.  We had one a few years ago and raised $12,000.

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER                                                                                                                                                                                Father Mike

What forms does penance take in the Christian life?  Penance can be expressed in many and various ways but above all in fasting, prayer, and almsgiving.  These and many other forms of penance can be practiced in the daily life of a Christian, particularly during the time of Lent and on the penitential day of Friday.  What are the essential elements of the sacrament of Reconciliation?  The essential elements are two; the acts of the penitent who comes to repentance through the action of the Holy Spirit, and the absolution of the priest who in the name of Christ grants forgiveness and determines the ways of making satisfaction.

FAMILY OF THE MONTH                                                                                                                                                                              The KC Family that was picked for January 2017 were Steve Futch, Karen Futch, Jacob Futch, and Abby Futch.  This family is always doing things together for the Church, school, community, and now for the KC’s since Steve and Jacob are KC members.

Remember, if you see a family that needs to be recognized, please let me know so we can turn them in for a certificate of Family of the Month.

Please turn the name over to the Family Director, which is Carl Brochard, (
